Privacy Policy

Last updated: [DATE — fill in on publish]

Draft — not legally reviewed.Replace the bracketed entity/jurisdiction fields and have this reviewed before launch, especially if you'll have EU (GDPR) or California (CCPA) visitors.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers trendsmap.io, operated by [Legal entity name — not yet established] ([Jurisdiction — not yet established]).

2. What we collect

  • Anonymous device ID — a random identifier stored in your browser's local storage, used to attribute trend votes, polls and predictions without requiring an account.
  • Guest display name — a name you choose (or a randomly assigned one) shown next to comments, stored in local storage.
  • Account data — if you register (planned), your email and any profile info you provide.
  • Content you submit — comments, polls, predictions, trend votes.
  • Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited, collected automatically by our hosting provider.

3. What we don't do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not require an account to read the site, vote on trends, or start or vote on polls and predictions.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to remember your anonymous ID and guest name across visits. If we activate advertising (Google AdSense) or analytics in the future, this section will be updated to describe those cookies before they go live.

5. How we use your data

  • To display your comments, votes and reports on the map and in the community sections.
  • To calculate Pulse and leaderboard rankings.
  • To detect spam/self-promotion and apply automated moderation.
  • To operate, secure and improve the Service.

6. Data retention

We retain content and identifiers for as long as your account or anonymous ID remains active, or as needed to operate the Service. You may request deletion — see Section 8.

7. Third parties

We use third-party infrastructure to run the Service (hosting, database, and — in the future — authentication and payments providers). These providers process data only as needed to deliver their service to us. A full vendor list will be published here as each is activated.

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing privacy@trendsmap.io. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under GDPR, CCPA or similar laws.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves; material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
